OXO Leo - Mounted Print

Photographic print, 10 x 8 inches including black mount.

Subject: The red lit windows of the OXO tower on the South Bank reflected in the glazing of Blackfriars Pier, with one of the verdigris covered Embankment mooring lions in the background.

The apparent advertising for OXO is supposedly entirely coincidental. The builders applied for planning permission to construct a tower with neon advertisements on the sides. This was rejected, as were all neon signs facing the Thames. The builders redesigned the tower to feature a series of large windows. This was given planning permission. It was built. And then it was lit, from within, whereupon the circles and diagonal cross in the stained glass became apparent; clearly an unintentional fluke.
